SO. FINALLY uploading something decent!

Now, before you get all excited, I should mention that I was experimenting with the GRID technique as I worked on this, which is what helped me make the proportions and shapes on this accurate. I'm afraid my actual anatomy skills are not yet that far along.

What's the GRID technique all about? err, you draw a grid over your reference image, then the same grid (maybe at a different proportion, if you feel like it... I did feel like it ) on a blank canvas, and you draw paying attention to proportions by using the grid... it actually makes drawing a figure accurate rather easy really. I'm not sure how much it actually helps you LEARN though... mostly because I found myself relying on the grid too much to make my measurements, and as I was drawing the sketch, I wasn't seeing a 3-d face, just the lines I should draw and their relative position to the grid.

meh.

it was a fun experiment though, because I really needed to proove to myself that I COULD draw something with accurate proportions damn it, even if it was done with a crutch. I DO think I learned more about how proportions work. oh, and coloring the sketch afterwards was a total blast!
